Facebook is my favourite social media platform. I know it’s not cool or trendy (Instagram) or filled with professional comments and links (Twitter) but I really like it! I’ve posted 3 competitions on Facebook since starting my business page. My most recent was my most heart-felt. Sitting at home like the rest of the non-essential workforce, I felt compelled to offer a free painting to an NHS worker. I just wanted to make a small personal gesture of thanks, especially as I watched the death toll rise most sharply for that particular workforce.
The winner was Naomi, an NHS employee from London. I really enjoy the process behind commission pieces. I love the collaboration between the client and myself, from discussing ideas in planning stages to bringing to life an original artwork. Naomi sent me a photo of deer stood in Richmond Park. The composition was so appealing; high rise flats fading in the distance behind the rich browns of the deer and all the multitude of tones in the natural colour scheme and various textures in the vegetation. I just loved it – hope you do too!
