It’s a weird year. No two ways about it. I’m much quieter than I was last year as people seem to be anxious about spending in a bleak economic climate and with the second lockdown (England) imminent. Self-employment is precarious when life is normal but it borders on impossible during a pandemic. Teaching art and selling art at craft fairs are unavailable income streams at the moment so online sales via Facebook and Etsy, and commissions via my website are my only sources of income. Still I have to be grateful…health over wealth!
This does give me time to think and play around with art. You can never underestimate the importance of experimenting and exploring topics and media. My latest piece is shown above; “Winter Window”. I’ve been thinking a lot about windows, unsurprising really given how much time I’ve spent indoors this year! I’ve fallen in love with the idea of animals sitting together on the window sill.
Non-essential travel is about to be banned again but when we come out the other side, I’d like to travel around and photograph interesting windows and maybe do a series of artworks. Until then, stay safe folks.
