C is for Children

Happy New Year! Better saying it late than never!

I’ve just completed my first commission of 2021; three gorgeous siblings. I’ve done quite a few human portraits in the last month and have definitely developed a preference for watercolours and coloured pencils due to the softer effects these materials produce. It’s funny really as I’ve seldom done artworks of people and never as commissions until this year. I did a few portraiture studies for GCSE and A Level and studied human figures and anatomy at Life Drawing classes at University as part of my degree in Art & Design (and I have continued to attend life drawing classes over the years for fun).

It’s Blue Monday today (apparently) and I’m about to start a dog portrait so I’m feeling quite upbeat. Keeping busy and staying home is the only way forward in this third lockdown and at least the lighter nights are starting to reveal themselves… soon be Spring! I hope you have a great week. Stay safe.
